Al-Ahly were drawn to open against the winner of El Nasr and El Sekka El Hadid. Zamalek were drawn to face the winner of Misr Lel Tameen and Pharco.
Pyramids' route as holders
Pyramids were drawn to meet the winner of El Dakhleya and El Tersana. Pyramids go into the competition as cup holders after beating ZED 2-1 in last season's final.

Ismaily went out in the third preliminary round after a 1-0 defeat to El Rabat El Anwar. El Masry El Port Saidy were drawn to take on Misr El Makkasa, ZED were drawn to play the winner of Samannoud and Baladeyet El Mahalla, and Ceramica Cleopatra were drawn to go up against Abu Qir Fertilizers.
Al-Ahly Bank were drawn to face the winner of El Rabat El Anwar and Port Fouad, Wadi Degla were drawn to face the winner of Tanta and Kahraba El Ismailia, El Gouna were drawn to face the winner of El Alumonyoum and Ittihad El Shorta, Petrojet were drawn to face the winner of Delphy and Mega Sport, and El Mokawloon El Arab were drawn to face the winner of Nogoom Misr and El Masreya Lel Ittisalat.
