Liverpool's Premier League match against Brighton at Anfield on Sunday could be postponed or called off because of Storm Boelo. The fixture is in doubt because windy and wet conditions are expected across parts of northern UK.
Weather warning in place until Sunday evening
The Met Office issued a weather warning ahead of Storm Boelo's expected impact. Empire of The Kop says a weather warning is in effect until 9pm on Sunday.
Empire of The Kop says the Met Office advised that roads and public transport could be affected by closures from fallen debris or cancellations, and that power cuts could occur.
What the Met Office said
In a statement released ahead of the game, the Met Office said: "Strong winds will spread across northern parts of the UK during Saturday afternoon, combining with spells of heavy rain."
The Met Office also said: "Initially strong southerly winds will affect parts of Scotland before more widespread and even stronger westerly winds develop later on Saturday. Very windy conditions will then persist overnight and through much of Sunday before gradually easing from the southwest later."
Wind forecast around kickoff
The Met Office said: "Gusts of 55-65 mph are likely widely, with some coastal and exposed areas potentially seeing gusts of 70-80 mph or more; these strongest gusts most likely across Scotland and the far north of England."
Flashscore says winds between 53mph and 56mph are forecast for the two hours before kickoff at Anfield. Flashscore says people were advised to stay indoors as much as possible.
Storm Boelo outlook
The Met Office said Storm Boelo is expected to bring a very windy and wet spell, with some disruption likely across parts of northern UK. Flashscore says Storm Boelo is the second named storm in two days.
