After Napoli beat Bodø/Glimt 4-3 at the Maradona to claim their first Champions League points, forward Giovane said the team want to win against Roma on Saturday. The match comes with Napoli ninth in Serie A on 10 points from seven games, while Roma arrive in third place, seven points ahead.
What Giovane said after Tuesday
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Giovane spoke to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli ahead of the weekend and said: "In football there’s also a bit of luck. When the results don’t come, you ask yourself why the ball isn’t going in, or why you’ve miscontrolled it. That’s normal, that’s football. After Tuesday everything can change. If we win on Saturday, that can change everything."
Napoli's recent results
Napoli had lost to Arsenal and Villarreal before beating Bodø/Glimt. They also lost 1-0 at Venezia, and after that defeat Napoli were ninth in Serie A with 10 points from seven games. Football Italia said Napoli's start was their worst in 17 years.
The Roma match
Gian Piero Gasperini’s Roma arrive at the Maradona in third place, seven points ahead of Napoli. Giovane said: "Roma are a very strong side with great technical quality. But we’re a strong team too, and we hope to put in a good performance for ourselves and our fans. Obviously, we want to win."
His comments on Allegri
Giovane said: "The coach talks to everyone. Being young, I have to listen to him more, because he has great experience. I get on well with him. He wants to help us as footballers and as people, and that’s very important."
