In the Saudi Roshn Pro League's tenth round, Saad Al-Kathiri said Al-Hilal should have had a 17th-minute penalty against Al-Hazm and VAR should have intervened.

Al-Hilal beat Al-Hazm in the tenth round of the Saudi Roshn Pro League. GOAL said former international referee Saad Al-Kathiri said Al-Hilal were not awarded a penalty in the match.

Al-Kathiri's view on the incident

According to GOAL, Al-Kathiri said the referee erred by not awarding a penalty in Al-Hilal's favour in the 17th minute. He said English winger Crysencio Summerville was impeded inside the penalty area by one of Al-Hazm's defenders, and his view was that the situation warranted a foul for Al-Hilal.

Criticism of VAR

Al-Kathiri also criticised the lack of intervention from the video assistant referee and said the VAR should have called the referee over to review the incident on the screen.

Match outcome

Gabriel Martinelli scored the winner in the 89th minute. The goal took Al-Hilal's tally to 24.
