Philadelphia Union winger Cavan Sullivan earned the top spot on Major League Soccer’s annual 22 Under 22 list. At 17 years and 22 days old, he becomes the youngest player ever to earn the No. 1 ranking.
How the list is decided
The list is organized by MLS and surveys an expert panel of MLS coaches, general managers, sporting directors, broadcasters and select media, including Sports Illustrated.
Sullivan's season numbers
Sullivan has seven goals and 13 assists in 20 starts. He was named the MLS Player of the Month for September and became the youngest player to ever earn the MLS Player of the Month honor. He also recently broke the record for the most goal contributions by a teenager in a single MLS season, with 21.
Union history on the list
Sullivan becomes the second Union player to win the top spot on the 22 Under 22 list, following Brenden Aaronson in 2020.

Julian Hall finished second on the 22 Under 22 list, while Adri Mehmeti ranked third. Justin Ellis ranked fifth, Peyton Miller finished sixth in voting, and Neil Pierre earned seventh-place honors. Brooklyn Raines and Frankie Westfield ranked 10th and 11th respectively.
