Manchester City moved up to seven consecutive Premier League wins with a 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town, maintaining their 100% record. Arsenal's 3-3 comeback draw at AFC Bournemouth on 3 January 2017 and a series of Lazio matches played in October were also revisited.
Manchester City winning runs
Planet Football described Manchester City's current run as the third-best start in Premier League history. Both Manchester clubs have a 12-game winning streak on their records, while Chelsea had a 13-match winning streak in the 2016-17 season under Antonio Conte.
Manchester City had a 13-win streak from April to September 2024. Arsenal put together a 14-match win streak.
Liverpool won 17 Premier League games in a row and, in a separate run, went 18 in a row in their march to the 2019-20 title. In an earlier season, Manchester City also put together a run of 18 games of wins after drawing the second game of that season at home to Everton.
Arsenal's comeback at Bournemouth
On 3 January 2017, Arsenal came back from three goals down to draw 3-3 against AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. Bournemouth led through Charlie Daniels in the 16th minute, Callum Wilson from the penalty spot within four minutes, and Ryan Fraser just before the hour mark.
Alexis Sanchez scored in the 70th minute to start Arsenal's comeback. Lucas Perez scored Arsenal's second goal, and Olivier Giroud scored the equaliser.
After the match, Arsene Wenger told BBC Sport: "At the start we suffered from the quality of Bournemouth. One team had over three days to recover and on top of that we suffered at the back. It was a physical test but we came back into the game and we showed we are mentally strong."
