GOAL reported that Corinthians look set to be without Memphis Depay until mid-November at the earliest because of a thigh injury. The forward remains sidelined.
Injury and timeline
Depay is a 32-year-old forward. He sustained the muscle injury in training on Sunday 18 October and has remained out since suffering the problem just over a week before.
Depay missed Corinthians' league match against Vasco da Gama on Sunday, when Corinthians lost 3-2.
Matches he is set to miss
ESPN reports that "there is pessimism about the possibility of his returning for the matches before the next international break". Corinthians face Mirassol in a league match in the early hours of Saturday, and Depay will definitely miss it.
He also looks set to miss the meeting with São Paulo in the early hours of 5 November. Depay may not be available again until 18 November, when Corinthians take on Botafogo.
Netherlands call-up remains unclear
Whether Depay is being considered for a Netherlands call-up during the next international break remains unclear. Whether the injury will affect a possible Netherlands call-up also remains unclear.
Xavi Hernández decided not to call Depay up during the previous international break.
Atmosphere at the training ground
ESPN reports "an atmosphere of isolation" around Depay at the Corinthians training ground. GOAL says the atmosphere of isolation is largely linked to the saga surrounding Depay's contract extension earlier this year.
