FootballTransfers reported that Gilberto Mora appeared to signal approval of a move to Liverpool in a social-media video, after fans shouted his name and asked “Liverpool?”.
What the video showed
In a video posted on social media, fans can be heard shouting Mora’s name while asking “Liverpool?”. After initially waving at the supporters, Mora then smiled and gave a thumbs-up in response to the question, before walking down the tunnel.
FootballTransfers' transfer claims
FootballTransfers reported that Mora appears to have said “yes” to joining Liverpool next year following significant interest from Andoni Iraola’s side. It’s understood that a fee of at least €35 million will be required to tempt Tijuana into selling Mora next year. FootballTransfers also reported that Liverpool are ready to match this valuation and have now received encouragement to step up talks over a deal. Arsenal are also believed to be closely tracking Mora’s progress.
Mora's record so far
Mora made his first-team debut for Club Tijuana at 15 years old. He has scored five goals in seven Liga MX games so far this season. FootballTransfers writes that Mora already has 13 senior caps for his country.
Tuchel's comments
Speaking to reporters ahead of the Three Lions’ last-16 clash against Mexico at the World Cup this summer, England boss Thomas Tuchel said: “We are not surprised, we have seen his [Mora’s] quality.”
Tuchel added: “It's very impressive, he's a very young and talented player. He doesn't get nervous on the biggest stage. He's a top player.”
