Palmeiras and Estudiantes de La Plata won semi-final shootouts to reach the 2026 CONMEBOL Libertadores Final on 28 November in Montevideo.

Palmeiras and Estudiantes de La Plata booked their places in the 2026 CONMEBOL Libertadores Final. Both semi-final ties were decided by penalty shootouts after the second legs, and the final is on 28 November at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo.

Shootout wins send both teams through

Palmeiras eliminated Fluminense 5-3 on penalties after a 2-2 aggregate draw. Estudiantes knocked out Flamengo 3-2 on penalties.

Muslera leads ten-man Estudiantes

Estudiantes played over 40 minutes with ten men in the second leg after Baltasar Rodríguez's red card. Goalkeeper Fernando Muslera saved three consecutive penalties from Jorginho, Lucas Paquetá, and Bruno Henrique.

Muslera said: "On a personal level, football always gives you another chance."

He also said: "In shoot-outs, the goalkeeper has that added bonus of being able to contribute."

Muslera added: "the happiness of wanting to fulfill your dreams, of taking responsibility in the good times and the not-so-good ones."

Palmeiras back in the final

Palmeiras enter their second consecutive final after finishing runners-up in 2025. Carlos Miguel made the decisive save against Fluminense's Nonato in the shootout.

Ferreira reaches a fourth final

Palmeiras head coach Abel Ferreira reached his fourth Libertadores Final in seven seasons. Ferreira said: "Records, time... That’s not what drives me."

He also said: "I have great respect for Palmeiras’ history; nobody is bigger than Palmeiras. I love being at Palmeiras."

Estudiantes return to the final for the first time in 17 years.
