Clarence Seedorf came under criticism at Corinthians after a 1-1 draw with Vitória on Tuesday. The result ended Corinthians' run of eight consecutive league defeats.
Paperwork kept Seedorf off the bench
Corinthians appointed Seedorf as coach about a week and a half earlier. He was still waiting for the necessary paperwork and did not take his place on the bench for the match with Vitória.
Neto's reaction
According to GOAL, Corinthians club legend Neto was furious after watching the match. He said on Brazil's TV Bandeirantes: "He puts Vitinho, who has scored one goal, and Jesse Lingard, who has scored only two, on the pitch. Then, remarkably, he has no faith in Gui Negão and André Carrillo. He also substituted midfielder André. What a donkey you are, a real fool!"
Neto also said: "He knows absolutely nothing about Brazilian football. What's more, he has already shown that he is not competent to be a coach. He doesn't know the country or the team."
Marcelo Paz dismissed
On Wednesday, news broke that Corinthians had dismissed technical director Marcelo Paz. According to GOAL, Marcelo Paz had recently brought Seedorf to Corinthians and had spoken out strongly in Seedorf's defence after criticism.
According to GOAL, the continuing financial crisis and disappointing results cost Marcelo Paz his job.
