Juventus drew 2-2 with Stade Rennais in the UEFA Europa League league phase at the Allianz Stadium, extending their unbeaten run in the phase. Luciano Spalletti said his side had played well and with good tempo, but he was not happy not to win.
How the match unfolded
Zeki Celik gave the hosts an early lead, but goals from Musa Al-Taamari and a Boulaye Dia penalty put the French side ahead at half-time. Nick Woltemade levelled for Juventus from the penalty spot midway through the second half, and a late Jhon Lucumi strike was ruled out for offside by VAR.
Spalletti on Juventus
Spalletti said: "We did well today, and our tempo was good too; unfortunately, we conceded two goals we shouldn’t have."
He also said: "They raised their game today, but we’re still missing something; if I don’t win matches, I’m not happy."
Spalletti added: "I'm satisfied with the attitude tonight. Coming back into the game after going behind was difficult... the players accepted the challenges without giving up."
Haise reacts to the result
Franck Haise said: "I’m very pleased with the point because the game could have gone either way."
He also said: "We stayed calm after conceding early."
GOAL reported that Haise said Rennes avoiding defeat away to Italian opposition in UEFA competitions was a first for the club.
League phase position
Juventus had five points from their opening three league phase fixtures before this match. They are due to travel to the Netherlands to face AZ Alkmaar on Matchday 4.
