Wydad confirmed on Thursday 22 October the official end of its association with Paulo Sergio after only four rounds of the 2026-2027 professional league season. The change came after the side took 5 points from a possible 12 in its opening four matches.

Wydad said its association with Paulo Sergio had formally ended on 22 October. The decision came straight after Sunday's draw with Amal Tiznit at the Mohammed V Complex in Casablanca.
Results in the opening rounds
Wydad managed only a single win in its first four matches, with one defeat and two draws. Paulo Sergio's only victory came away to Difaâ Hassani El Jadidi.
Home matches
Paulo Sergio did not win any of his three home matches at Wydad. Those games brought a defeat to Wydad Témara and draws with Meknès Club and Amal Tiznit.
Reported successor
Moroccan press reports that Wydad's management has finalised its agreement with Tunisian coach Nasreddine El Nabi, formerly of Egypt's Ismaily, to lead the Moroccan side through the next phase.
