Before Liverpool host Villarreal in the Champions League, manager Andoni Iraola defended Florian Wirtz amid scrutiny. GOAL reported that Wirtz has failed to score in 9 appearances across all competitions this season and has provided 3 assists.
Iraola on Wirtz's recent form
Iraola said: "I think he is coming in from two very good games. He played really well at LASK away and the other day against Brentford. He helped the team a lot, in and out of possession and I hope we can keep him there, no?"
Response to the scrutiny
Iraola said: "You ask me basically every day about him and we analyse and over scrutinise everything about him but when he does well also, it is fair to say."
GOAL's reported figures and injuries
GOAL reported that Wirtz created 9 chances against Brentford. GOAL reported that Dominik Szoboszlai and Jeremie Frimpong were injured.
Iraola on Victor Munoz
Iraola said: "Victor is a player we know very well... Attitude wise, he is ready to help, he plays right, left, the other day he played right back."
