Major technology and artificial intelligence companies spent $109 million lobbying in Washington in 2025, and 11 leading firms had already spent $41 million in the first half of 2026, according to a Techub report citing CryptoBriefing. That marked roughly 8% year-over-year growth and worked out to more than $320,000 for each congressional working day. Meta led the group in the first half of 2025 with $13.8 million in spending. Anthropic spent more than $3.5 million over the same period, already above its full-year total from the previous year, while OpenAI posted a record quarterly outlay of $1.2 million in the second quarter. The lobbying agenda was centered on regulatory matters tied to AI, including federal preemption for AI safety standards, export controls and copyright disputes.
