Chainlink has introduced a connectivity framework that lets banks access the SWIFT blockchain ledger through the Chainlink platform, according to crypto.news. The setup is designed so banks can keep their transaction-signing keys rather than hand them over to Chainlink. The company said the framework uses the Chainlink Runtime Environment to coordinate interactions between institutional systems and the ledger. For banks using a self-signed model, authorization keys remain under their own control. The report also said the SWIFT ledger supports 24/7 tokenized deposit payments, while final settlement still runs through existing systems such as real-time gross settlement. In addition, 17 banks from six continents, including ANZ, HSBC, Citi, Standard Chartered and UBS, are preparing tokenized deposit pilots on the SWIFT ledger.

Chainlink has rolled out a connectivity framework that lets banks reach the SWIFT blockchain ledger through the Chainlink platform while still keeping control of their transaction-signing keys, according to crypto.news.

It runs on the Chainlink Runtime Environment, which handles the back-and-forth between institutional systems and the ledger. And banks using a self-signed model do not have to hand over authorization keys to Chainlink.

The SWIFT ledger is built for 24/7 tokenized deposit payments. But final settlement still happens through the current rails, including real-time gross settlement systems.

The report also said 17 banks across six continents, among them ANZ, HSBC, Citi, Standard Chartered and UBS, are getting ready for tokenized deposit pilots on the SWIFT ledger.
