MoonPay has launched Telegram support for MoonAgents, giving users a way to access its AI crypto agent through a chat interface. The setup enables tasks such as crypto market analysis, personal dashboard creation, trade handling, and on-chain monitoring. The announcement was made on Thursday, with Telegram serving as the front-end interface while the MoonAgents desktop app handles the back-end side.
Setup starts with a bot created through BotFather
Users must first create their own Telegram bot through BotFather, Telegram’s official bot creation tool. That step generates an API token used to identify the bot. After that, the bot is linked to the MoonAgents desktop application, which acts as the software layer behind the AI agent. Once connected, users can issue natural-language requests to the agent for market analysis, transaction processing, and blockchain tracking. The chat window is simple; the actual agent logic sits elsewhere.
Telegram interface unlocks core MoonAgents functions
According to the published details, the Telegram integration gives access to several core functions: cryptocurrency market analysis, personal dashboard creation, arranging trades, and on-chain monitoring. MoonPay’s positioning is that users can interact with the agent inside a familiar messaging app instead of relying on a separate control interface for every task. In this design, Telegram is used as the communication layer rather than the place where sensitive data is stored.
User data and private keys stay on the local machine
MoonPay said user data and private keys remain on the user’s personal computer, while the messaging app acts only as the application medium. That point is central to how the product is being presented. Arifin said the move was not tied to Telegram’s popularity within the crypto community, but to making MoonAgents available through another interface. The report also noted that OpenClaw and Hermes Agent use Telegram as an interface for interacting with AI agents.
The release places MoonPay in a product category that combines messaging, artificial intelligence, and digital asset management. The confirmed details center on chat-based interaction, local custody of sensitive information, and a desktop application that carries the operational load for the agent.
