World, a Solana prediction market platform, officially launched its standalone website, world.xyz, on Sept. 9 and opened access to more than 1 million users on its waitlist. The initial lineup covered every NFL regular-season game, seven major football leagues, Formula 1, the 2026 U.S. midterm elections, and the Federal Reserve’s next rate decision.
Traffic overshot expectations on the first day, and the site went down after being overloaded.
Site taken offline after launch-day traffic exceeded expectations
Before the standalone launch, World had already been running inside the Phantom wallet since July, with more than 150,000 markets listed over that period. Once the independent site went live, a rush of users pushed the system beyond capacity.
In a post published early on Sept. 10, World said the day’s traffic could 「literally overload the site」 and that the team had temporarily shut the website as a precaution while fixes were being made. It also said all funds were safe and that the reward campaign would resume after repairs. As of the report’s publication, the site had not yet returned.
First-trade reward campaign drove the traffic rush
The immediate trigger behind the surge was a first-trade reward program launched alongside the website debut. According to community feedback cited in the report, users were asked to create an account, connect an X account, and complete one prediction trade before claiming a reward settled in CASH, Phantom’s dollar stablecoin.
World did not disclose a fixed payout table. Reward amounts varied by user, time window, and eligibility. One user said they received $378, and community discussion suggested the upper end could reach roughly the $500 range.
Crypto blogger Chen Xiaomeng said the reward may have been linked to X follower count, putting an account with 10,000 followers at about $80. That claim was not confirmed by World, but members of the community widely treated it as a possible logic behind the campaign.
The campaign also ran into technical complaints. Some users said their USDC deposits did not arrive, deposit addresses changed after a page refresh, or rewards were missing even after a trade had been completed. Participation was also restricted in some countries, so the offer was not available to all users globally.
World had already appeared through Phantom before the public launch
World entered the public conversation earlier than this launch. Foresight News had published a report on June 30 titled “World appeared in Phantom prediction market disclosures before formally introducing itself.” At that stage, World had not yet rolled out full functionality, but it had already shown up in Phantom’s prediction-market disclosure materials.
World’s settlement system is built entirely around CASH. CASH is a dollar stablecoin designed by Phantom for everyday use, pegged 1:1 to the U.S. dollar and issued through Bridge and Stripe’s Open Issuance platform. World’s contracts are presented in binary yes-or-no form, and both opening positions and settlement are handled in CASH. On the front end, users can swap USDC or SOL into CASH before trading, and profits, rewards, and closeout proceeds are all paid in CASH.
That setup means every trade on World creates a use case for Phantom’s stablecoin instead of relying on outside settlement assets such as USDC.
Phantom, World, and Chainlink have split the stack
Phantom’s support goes beyond wallet connectivity. According to Phantom’s disclosure page, new prediction positions opened inside Phantom have been provided by world Prediction Markets since June 1, 2026. Before that, the same entry point used Kalshi and DFlow.
World first embedded into Phantom and then launched its own site, giving it direct access to the existing traffic of Solana’s largest consumer wallet. The report said this was a key reason it was able to build a base of more than 50,000 independent predictors in a relatively short period.
After the standalone site went live, the two routes continued to operate in parallel. Phantom handles the front end, wallet, Cash accounts, and user distribution. World supplies the market protocol, order routing, and settlement logic. Chainlink provides fast market data and automated settlement through Data Streams and CRE, replacing more traditional approaches such as manual review or token-holder voting.
World remains smaller than the leading prediction platforms
On the numbers, World still trails major rivals by a wide margin. Dune data cited in the report showed about $31 million in total prediction trading volume and about 53,600 independent predictors on World.
For comparison, the same report cited Dune data showing that Polymarket recorded about $2.34 billion in total trading volume in the week of Aug. 17, while its active address count in July stood at about 573,000.
User acquisition and CASH circulation are both in focus
Against that backdrop, World chose a first-trade cash reward instead of points or an airdrop to attract users. Requiring an X account can help identify real users, filter bots, and expand reach through social sharing.
If the community theory about follower-linked rewards is accurate, it would suggest that World is aiming at users with some level of influence rather than simply chasing wallet count. According to official information cited in the report, World currently has no points program and has not announced any token issuance plan.
From the perspective of the Solana ecosystem, the campaign serves two goals at once: bringing new users into Phantom and expanding the circulation of CASH. CoinMarketCap data cited in the report put CASH’s market capitalization at about $125 million, compared with $188.38 billion for USDT and $74.31 billion for USDC.
Every trade on World and every reward paid out adds to real usage demand for CASH. Phantom, as Solana’s largest consumer wallet, also provides a potential distribution network through its user base. Whether World can retain users after the trading rewards end, and turn first-time participants into long-term users, remains to be seen.
