News Editor Binance warns users to watch for scams as withdrawals resume in stages
Binance issued a security alert as its withdrawal service resumes in phases, warning that scammers may try to exploit the situation by impersonating the exchange. According to the notice, fraudulent messages may arrive through direct messages, email, group chats, or even memo fields attached to small transfers. These messages may claim they can help users speed up withdrawals, secure priority processing, receive compensation, or move assets into a supposed "Binance vault."
Binance said it will not proactively contact users to ask about account or fund details, sell priority spots in a withdrawal queue, charge fees to unlock a network or asset, or ask users to connect wallets, sign approvals, or transfer funds to unlock withdrawals. The exchange also said it will not ask users to move assets into any "vault," "safe account," or custodial wallet, send links for eligibility checks or compensation claims, request passwords, 2FA codes, or seed phrases, direct users to non-official websites for proof of reserves information, or offer paid asset recovery services.
The exchange advised users to check withdrawal progress only in the Binance app and avoid signing or authorizing unknown requests, noting that malicious approvals or transactions can expose assets to theft and that on-chain transactions usually cannot be reversed.
