Survey finds roughly 70% of U.S. crypto traders are open to AI-managed portfolios

A survey commissioned by OKX and conducted among 1,400 U.S. crypto traders found that about 70% would allow artificial intelligence to manage their portfolios without reviewing every trade individually. That includes both fully autonomous management and AI systems operating within user-defined risk limits. The results also show a clear generational split: 38% of Gen Z respondents and 37% of millennials said they would be willing to give AI full, unsupervised control, compared with 11% of baby boomers. AI use is already common in trading workflows, with 51% saying they use AI tools multiple times a week for research or trading, and 77% reporting that they had used general-purpose chatbots over the past three months to research their crypto positions. Respondents also pointed to the safeguards they want most, especially real-time alerts and the ability to instantly revoke system permissions. Separately, 79% said they would consider switching exchanges if a competing platform offered better AI tools. The survey comes as U.S. regulators including the SEC, FINRA and state securities authorities continue to warn investors to verify platform registrations and remain cautious of promises of low risk and high returns.

CAISI chief Chris Fall exits after three months as U.S. AI standards unit sees third leadership change in half a year

The U.S. Center for AI Standards and Innovation, or CAISI, has lost another leader, with director Chris Fall stepping down after only three months in the role. The Commerce Department did not give a reason for the resignation and said only that the appointment had always been temporary. Fall is the third person to cycle through the job in a little over six months, following Collin Burns, who lasted less than a week, and David Sacks, the White House AI and crypto czar who left in March. CAISI, housed under the National Institute of Standards and Technology, is meant to set technical standards for AI models, test capabilities, and identify cybersecurity risks. Yet several high-profile U.S. AI oversight actions in recent months unfolded without the agency playing a visible role, including the temporary restrictions on Anthropic’s Mythos and Fable models and the White House’s Gold Eagle vulnerability coordination mechanism. The latest leadership turnover also comes as debate intensifies in Washington over Chinese open-source AI models after Moonshot released a new version of Kimi that reportedly matched leading frontier systems in benchmark performance.

Flex doubles valuation to $1.2 billion in seven months as it builds stablecoin and AI tools for mid-sized businesses

Flex has raised $70 million in a Series B1 round led by Halo Fund, lifting its valuation to about $1.2 billion just seven months after it was valued at roughly $600 million in its December 2025 Series B. The company said the new capital will support global expansion, with a particular focus on rolling out Flex Global. Flex targets owners of mid-sized, high-net-worth businesses with annual revenue between $3 million and $200 million, especially in construction, wholesale, and import-export. Its pitch is an AI-native private banking and financial operations platform that combines business finance, personal finance, private credit, payments, and ERP connectivity. At the center of that system is Flex Global, which uses stablecoins as a back-end payment rail so users can move money across borders without directly handling wallets. The company said it now supports stablecoin payments and wallet services in more than 100 countries, offers multi-currency accounts across 76 countries and 32 currencies, and has expanded private credit to more than 20 countries. After the latest round, Flex reported annualized revenue had tripled from the prior financing, annualized payment volume had exceeded $10 billion, and stablecoin transaction volume had surpassed $1 billion. The firm also said it has no plans for a native token and no public tokenomics model.

DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis proposes international body to vet frontier AI models before release

Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis has proposed creating an international oversight body for frontier AI models, modeled in part on the U.S. Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, or FINRA. In his proposal, qualifying frontier models would face mandatory pre-release review lasting as long as 30 days, regardless of whether they are open-source or closed-source and regardless of where they were developed. Hassabis said the board should be controlled by independent technical experts, including figures at the level of Turing Award winners, with additional seats for industry, government and open-source representatives. He said Anthropic’s limited-release Mythos model, launched in April, helped bring the framework forward sooner because of concerns over its cyber capabilities. Hassabis also pointed to longer-term biosecurity risks and said he plans to travel to Washington next week to discuss the proposal with U.S. policymakers. The idea has drawn supportive comments from OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Elon Musk, though the report notes that political agreement, not industry support, may be the harder hurdle.
