VeChain Enters Interstellar Phase of Renaissance Roadmap, VIP-255 Aligns with Ethereum Upgrades
In a recent announcement, the VeChain Foundation confirmed that its Renaissance roadmap has entered the next phase, codenamed Interstellar. This follows the completion of the Galactica phase, which laid the groundwork with an EVM base upgrade, and the Hayabusa phase, which wrapped up consensus and tokenomics changes. The Interstellar phase is designed to enhance EVM compatibility between the VeChainThor blockchain and the Ethereum ecosystem, aiming to broaden capabilities for developers building on the network. As the first upgrade proposal under Interstellar, VIP-255 introduces a set of execution-layer improvements aligned with Ethereum's Cancun, Prague, and Osaka upgrades. These include transient storage support, the MCOPY opcode, and cryptographic support for BLS12-381 and secp256r1. The proposal will be voted on through the VeVote platform from 00:00 UTC on August 10, 2026 to 00:00 UTC on August 17, 2026. Participants include validators and holders of eligible StarGate NFTs. According to the foundation, the upgrade does not alter VET or VTHO tokenomics, and regular token holders are not required to take any action.
