Bitget UEX daily: Strait deal hopes hit oil, Dow and S&P 500 reach fresh highs

Bitget UEX’s Aug. 5 market note tracked a broad cross-asset move driven by easing geopolitical expectations and softer rate pressure. CME FedWatch data showed the probability of no rate change by September rising to 41.6%, while the chance of a cumulative 25-basis-point hike fell to 58.4%. At the same time, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said an agreement tied to the Strait of Hormuz could be reached on Aug. 4 or 5, helping keep pressure on crude prices and easing near-term inflation concerns. U.S. equities extended their rally, with the Dow closing at 54,085.88, up 1.71%, and the S&P 500 at 7,736.52, up 1.79%, both at record highs. The Nasdaq rose 2.59% to 26,584.99. Palantir stood out after reporting stronger-than-expected quarterly results and raising full-year guidance, while Intel, AMD, Micron and SanDisk also advanced as semiconductor and storage shares rebounded. In crypto, BTC was quoted around $639,850, up 0.91%, while ETH traded near $1,863, up 0.65%. Total crypto market capitalization was about $2.28 trillion, with 24-hour liquidations at $204 million. The report also highlighted spot BTC ETF flows, Glassnode supply concentration around the $61,000-$63,000 area, and a packed macro and earnings calendar featuring SanDisk, Western Digital, Circle and upcoming U.S. labor data.

Trump Says Strait of Hormuz Could Reopen by Tomorrow as Amazon Tops $3 Trillion and Palantir Beats

Bitget’s UEX daily market report on Aug. 4 put the focus on three linked themes: easing geopolitical tension around the Strait of Hormuz, a sharp rebound in U.S. technology stocks, and a still-cautious crypto market. Donald Trump said on Aug. 3 Eastern Time that talks with Iran had begun, with reopening the Strait of Hormuz as the first stage and denuclearization as the second, adding that the waterway could reopen as soon as tomorrow. The report said that comment quickly pushed down the risk premium in crude, even as Iran’s military adviser Mohsen Rezaei rejected any U.S.-backed non-Iranian route through the strait. In equities, the Dow, S&P 500 and Nasdaq all rose, while Amazon’s market capitalization moved above $3 trillion for the first time. Meta, Microsoft, Google, Nvidia and Tesla also gained. Palantir stood out after reporting second-quarter revenue of $1.94 billion and adjusted EPS of $0.41, both above expectations, and raising its full-year guidance, sending the stock up more than 14% after hours. Crypto lagged the move in tech. BTC traded around $62,420 and ETH around $1,850, while total crypto market capitalization was about $2.27 trillion. The report also noted $265 million in net outflows from spot BTC ETFs the previous day and 24-hour liquidations totaling about $244 million.

Iran missile strike lifts oil while chip and storage shares deepen losses ahead of Fed decision

Bitget UEX’s July 29 market note showed geopolitical and policy risks driving cross-asset moves. Iran fired multiple ballistic missiles at a U.S. base in Jordan, with all missiles intercepted, according to the report and subsequent confirmation from U.S. Central Command. Oil prices rebounded sharply, with WTI crude quoted around $82.6 a barrel and Brent near $81.2, as traders repriced supply risk and inflation concerns. Ahead of the Federal Open Market Committee meeting, positioning in fed funds futures climbed to a record 967,000 open contracts, signaling unusually wide disagreement over the policy path. CME data cited in the report put the probability of no rate change in July at 69.5%, versus a 30.5% chance of a 25-basis-point hike. Crypto markets remained volatile. BTC was listed at $63,962 and ETH at $1,917, while total crypto liquidations over 24 hours reached about $372 million. In equities, Apple, Microsoft and Google posted gains, but semiconductor and storage names sold off again. Seagate stood out after earnings topped expectations, while Micron and SK Hynix faced renewed pressure as investors reassessed the durability of AI-related hardware demand and spending returns.

Coinglass data points to $867 million in long liquidations if Bitcoin falls below $61,000

Coinglass data cited by BlockBeats shows a heavy liquidation zone on both sides of Bitcoin’s current price range. If BTC drops below $61,000, cumulative long liquidation intensity across major centralized exchanges could reach $867 million. On the upside, if Bitcoin breaks above $65,000, cumulative short liquidation intensity could rise to $1.157 billion. BlockBeats also noted that the liquidation chart should not be read as a precise count of contracts waiting to be liquidated or an exact dollar figure for contracts that would be wiped out. Instead, the bars on the chart reflect the relative importance, or intensity, of each liquidation cluster compared with nearby clusters. In practical terms, the chart is meant to show how strongly the market could react if the underlying asset moves into a given price area. Higher liquidation bars indicate that, once price reaches those levels, the reaction driven by a wave of liquidity could be stronger. The data offers a view of where leveraged positioning may be concentrated across major CEX venues.

Bitget UEX daily: Oil drops as US-Iran strikes pause, while Big Tech earnings take center stage this week

Bitget UEX’s latest market note said easing tensions between the United States and Iran helped push crude prices sharply lower, cooling some of the inflation and rate-hike concerns that had built up during the previous oil rally. The report said the shift improved risk appetite across markets, with crypto recovering alongside other risk assets. BTC traded around $65,195 and ETH around $1,974, while total crypto market capitalization rose to roughly $2.31 trillion. In liquidation data, 24-hour liquidations reached about $213 million, including $160 million in short liquidations. The note also reviewed a mixed close in US equities last Friday. The Dow and S&P 500 ended slightly higher, while the Nasdaq slipped, reflecting continued pressure on technology shares. Apple rose 3.53%, while Nvidia, Amazon, Meta and Tesla fell. Sector performance was uneven as semiconductor, memory and optical communications names sold off, while some software stocks outperformed. Looking ahead, the report highlighted this week’s major macro events, including the Federal Reserve’s rate decision, US core PCE and GDP data, along with earnings from Apple, Meta, Amazon, Microsoft, Qualcomm and SK Hynix.

Coinglass flags $477 million in short liquidation intensity if Bitcoin breaks $66,000

Coinglass data cited by BlockBeats shows two key liquidation levels for Bitcoin on major centralized exchanges. If BTC breaks above $66,000, cumulative short liquidation intensity would reach $477 million. On the downside, if Bitcoin falls below $63,000, cumulative long liquidation intensity would reach $429 million. BlockBeats added an important caveat on how to read the chart. The liquidation map does not show the exact number of contracts waiting to be liquidated, nor does it represent the precise value of contracts that would be closed out. Instead, the bars measure the relative importance, or intensity, of one liquidation cluster compared with nearby clusters. In practice, the chart is meant to show how strongly the market could react if the underlying asset reaches a certain price area. Taller liquidation bars indicate that once price moves into that zone, the resulting liquidity wave may produce a stronger market response. The data point was published on July 26.
