Sanan Optoele2026-10-26 00:53:10Lin Xiucheng’s arrest puts Sanan Optoelectronics’ control and debt strains in focusSanan Optoelectronics said its ultimate controller, Lin Xiucheng, has been formally arrested on suspicion of occupational embezzlement and misappropriation of funds, according to a company announcement released on Oct. 23. The disclosure pushed renewed attention onto the founder who built Sanan from a steel and scrap business into one of China’s best-known LED and compound semiconductor groups. Sanan’s shares closed that day at RMB 10.10, giving the company a market value of about RMB 50.4 billion. The case lands at a difficult moment for the company. Sanan once topped RMB 200 billion in market capitalization and expanded aggressively through local government support, industrial funds, subsidies and repeated share pledges. That model helped it scale LED production, invest in silicon carbide and optical chips, and become a major domestic semiconductor platform. But the reversal in the LED cycle, subsidy rollbacks, losses in newer businesses and mounting pressure on controlling shareholders have changed the picture. As of Oct. 14, all 1.312 billion Sanan shares held by Sanan Electronics and Sanan Group had been judicially frozen, accounting for 26.30% of total share capital. Reorganization applications have also been filed against the controlling shareholder entities. The company now faces questions over ownership stability, debt resolution and whether its second-generation management structure can operate independently of its founder.270
