AGF has terminated its sponsorship agreement with WindowMaster International A/S after comments linked the company’s involvement with the club to the debate over pyrotechnics at matches. AGF also said Lars Fournais resigned as Chairman of the Board of WindowMaster International A/S with immediate effect for the same reasons.
AGF ends the agreement
In an AGF press release, the club said it decided to terminate its sponsorship agreement with WindowMaster International A/S. AGF said the decision followed comments made by Oscar Boyter, representing WindowMaster.
What AGF said about the comments
AGF said Boyter suggested on Facebook that the sponsorship should cover AGF’s fines related to pyrotechnics and indicated that any intensified efforts to combat the use of pyrotechnics would affect the continuation of the sponsorship. AGF said the claim that the sponsorship was intended to cover their fines has no basis in reality and is entirely incompatible with AGF’s principles and values.
Fournais statement and resignation
Lars Fournais said: "This situation is unacceptable to AGF and to me personally, in my capacity as Chairman of both companies. There must be no doubt as to where AGF - or I - stand regarding the issue of pyrotechnics. We strongly condemn the use of pyrotechnics in football. I reiterate what we have stated many times: it is illegal and harmful to our club and to Danish football."
Next match
AGF will be in action on Sunday night when they face Viborg FF at home.
