Football365 reported that, after Manchester City were found guilty of 114 charges following accusations of breaching the Premier League’s financial fair play rules, Barcelona are eyeing Erling Haaland and Rayan Cherki. Manchester City have appealed the verdict and continue to deny any wrongdoing.
Barcelona targets
Football365 reported that Barcelona are eyeing both Haaland and Cherki. It is understood that both Haaland and Cherki “will say yes” to a move to Barcelona if a sporting sanction forces Manchester City to offload some of its key players.
Cherki conditions
Football365 reported that Cherki would be willing to listen to Barcelona if the punishment jeopardized his future in England. Football365 reported that a move for Cherki is seen as contingent on Fermin’s departure, which would free up funds and create squad space.
Figures in the reports
Football365 reported that another report in Spain has been quoted as insisting Manchester City would ask for €110m (£92m) for Cherki. Football365 reported that there have been claims Barcelona are preparing a bid of £130m for Haaland.
Haaland availability
Haaland, Nico O’Reilly, Matheus Nunes and Mateo Kovacic missed Manchester City’s 5-1 win over AEK Athens on Tuesday in the Champions League after picking up injuries against Ipswich Town. Maresca told reporters on Thursday: “We have a session this afternoon. They could all be available or not. They are still doubts. Yesterday they were all improving and we will see this afternoon. Erling is the only one who is 100 per cent available and the other three we need to wait on today’s session.”
