Chelsea lost 2-0 to Tottenham in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge, with Cole Palmer sent off after two yellow cards in nine second-half minutes. The dismissal means he will miss Chelsea's Carabao Cup trip to Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday through a one-match suspension.
How the red card unfolded
Palmer received the first sending-off of his professional career against Spurs. Referee Chris Kavanagh first booked him for his involvement in a scuffle with Mateus Fernandes before showing a second yellow card in the 80th minute after Palmer left his studs on Conor Gallagher.
Suspension for Wednesday
According to the Liverpool Echo, suspensions resulting from a red card in the Premier League carry over into domestic cup competitions. Palmer will therefore serve a one-match ban and miss Wednesday's Carabao Cup clash against Liverpool at Anfield.
Neville's verdict
Speaking on Sky Sports, former Manchester United defender Gary Neville said: "He's spot on the referee, Cole Palmer has lost his head in the last 10 minutes."
Neville added: "That one is no-brainer. That's just a silly challenge, he knows exactly what he's doing. Not a good challenge, naughty, really naughty."
