Crawley Town have sacked head coach Colin Kazim-Richards after slipping five points adrift at the bottom of League Two.

Crawley Town have sacked head coach Colin Kazim-Richards with the club five points adrift at the bottom of League Two. The decision came after a 3-2 home defeat to Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday night, Crawley's seventh loss in 10 league games.

Coaching and executive exits

Kazim-Richards' assistant Julian Gray has also been relieved of his duties, while director of football Erdem Konyar will leave the club too.

A Crawley Town club statement said: "The club would like to place on record its sincere thanks to Colin and Julian, who joined during a challenging period and played an important role in securing the club's EFL status at the end of last season."

The statement added: "We would also like to thank Erdem for his hard work and commitment since returning to the club last year."

It also said: "All three depart with the best wishes of everyone at Crawley Town, and we wish them every success in their future endeavours."

League Two record this season

Crawley have won just once in League Two all season and have conceded 20 goals in 10 league games.

Over the summer, 16 players arrived at Crawley either permanently or on loan while another 16 departed.

What happened last season

Kazim-Richards joined during last season and guided Crawley to survival after his appointment in March.

Crawley finished last season one point and one place above the League Two relegation zone.

Kazim-Richards' comments after the defeat

Asked by BBC Radio Surrey if he could turn his side's fortunes around after the loss, Kazim-Richards said: "I feel I can. If I'm given the time is another question. It's not a question I can answer for you."

He also said: "I think we need a little bit more experience, a little bit in terms of game management and things like that. But we'll see what happens, right?"

Kazim-Richards said: "With the players we've got I still think I could have got the best out of them and I can get the best out of them."

He added: "I just think there's certain areas they need help in and players need other players to be able to give them that nous, that experience, while they're playing with them as well."

He also said: "I think I've given nine league debuts. That's not an excuse and it's not me getting at them - you can only get experience by doing it, but at certain times they need help with that for sure."
