The Danish Football Association said an administrative error was made in the disciplinary process that suspended FC Copenhagen striker Andreas Cornelius for dissent towards the referee, but said the suspension remains in effect. The association's statement concerned how the case was handled by the Football Disciplinary Body.
Association acknowledges error
The Danish Football Association said a mistake was made in the process that led to Cornelius being handed a suspension. In an announcement on its website, the DBU wrote: "Two of the six members who took part in the decision—Lars W. Knudsen and Teddy Pedersen—should not have participated, as they are active within Sonderjyske Fodbold and Randers FC, respectively, and the case has sporting implications for the Superliga."
Conflict of interest in the case
The Danish Football Association said the two members should not have participated because of a conflict of interest. It said the "administrative error" did not influence the outcome of the vote.
Vote margin and suspension status
The Danish Football Association said the decision was reached by a 4–2 margin. It added that the two members who should not have participated both voted against the suspension, so without them the outcome would have been 4–0, and the suspension remains in effect.
