Manchester City left Erling Haaland out of the starting line-up for their Champions League game against AEK Athens. Haaland was nursing an injury sustained against Ipswich, and 17-year-old Floyd Samba led the line in his place.
Haaland not ready to start
Haaland was hurt in a challenge with Jack Clarke during Saturday's win over Ipswich. Before the match, The Independent said Haaland would face a late fitness test to determine whether he could play a part in the match with AEK.
Maresca said: "He can be available, we will see, we have a session now. We have some doubts after Sunday's game. He was quite good yesterday, better. So we will see today."
The Independent said Haaland had not been deemed ready to start in the fixture.
Samba leads the attack
Samba started up front for City. He scored twice on his City debut in the 5-0 Carabao Cup win over Norwich.
Phil Foden featured in the starting line-up after ending a 35-game goal drought against Ipswich. Rayan Cherki started in behind Samba, and Allan was picked on the right.
Changes through the team
Elliot Anderson and Enzo Fernandez were restored to the team after being rested on the weekend. Only Ruben Dias kept his place from the back-four that faced Ipswich.
Rico Lewis, Abdukodir Khusanov and Josko Gvardiol came into the team. Gianluigi Donnarumma kept his place in between the sticks as number one.
Semenyo also misses out
Antoine Semenyo had already been confirmed to miss out with a leg injury. The Independent said Semenyo was facing up to 8 weeks on the sidelines.
