La Liga announced the formation of its new delegates' committee on 16 October, with Barcelona returning and Real Madrid keeping a seat. The new line-up was confirmed amid an escalating crisis between Javier Tebas and Real Madrid.
New committee line-up
AS revealed that Real Madrid keep their seat on the committee in the new line-up as a member. AS also revealed that Atletico Madrid chief executive Miguel Angel Gil Marin stays on as first vice-president. Barcelona are returning to the delegates' committee, while the second division representatives are still to be determined.
Barcelona return and Madrid representation
GOAL said Barcelona walked away two years earlier, abruptly and without warning, in protest at the way the league was being run. GOAL said Florentino Perez will not attend in person, with deputy general manager Begona Sanz representing Real Madrid instead.
What the committee handles
GOAL described the delegates' committee as a body where decisive strategic decisions get taken without any need to refer back to the general assembly. GOAL said projects including the "Impulso" plan and the agreement with the CVC investment fund started inside the committee. GOAL said amendments to the financial fair play regulations are first discussed in the committee.
Background to the announcement
GOAL said the announcement came hours after Javier Tebas compared the methods of Real Madrid's television channel to the propaganda techniques of Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels. Real Madrid issued an official statement demanding Tebas resign immediately as head of La Liga and as first vice-president of the Spanish Football Federation. GOAL said Barcelona's relationship with Tebas shows a marked improvement. GOAL said the committee is completed by Sevilla, Alaves, Villarreal and Eibar, clubs regarded as part of the Tebas camp, with Eibar to hold the post of second vice-president.
