Manchester City trained ahead of their Champions League meeting with AEK Athens without Erling Haaland, Mateo Kovacic, Matheus Nunes and Nico O’Reilly. Their absence left City waiting on the fitness of all four before the match with AEK Athens.
Players absent from training
City were without Haaland, Kovacic, Nunes and O’Reilly in the session before facing AEK Athens. Antoine Semenyo was also not involved.
Checks after the Ipswich win
Haaland, Kovacic and Nunes had all been checked following City’s 3-2 win over Ipswich. After the game, Enzo Maresca said: "Mateo Kovacic said he was okay, Matheus said he was okay, Erling also said he was okay."
O’Reilly back issue and Semenyo absence
O’Reilly has been dealing with a back problem which first became an issue during the warm-up ahead of City’s clash with Coventry. After the Ipswich win, Maresca said: "Nico, if you remember, in the Coventry warm-up he had a problem with his back, it’s still the same problem."
Maresca had already confirmed that Antoine Semenyo is set for two months out.
