Paris Saint-Germain beat Strasbourg 3-1 in the seventh round of the French league, but the result was followed by injury concerns before their Champions League match against Barcelona. Nuno Mendes and Magnes Akliouche were both hurt, and Paris Saint-Germain were waiting for examination results to assess their chances of featuring against Barcelona.
Changed line-up and comeback
Luis Enrique used a modified line-up. Substitutes Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue made the difference as Paris Saint-Germain turned the match around.
Nuno Mendes concern
Nuno Mendes limped off in the closing minutes. Paris Saint-Germain had already used all their substitutions, so they played the remaining minutes with 10 men after he went off. There was no clarity yet on the nature of his injury or whether he might be available for the next match.
Speaking in the post-match press conference, Luis Enrique said: "I hope the injury is not serious. We will assess the situation tomorrow, and we did not want to take any risks."
Akliouche injury incident
Magnes Akliouche suffered an ankle injury in the opening minutes after a strong tackle from Strasbourg's Guela Doue. Questions were raised in the Paris camp over why the Strasbourg player was not sent off.
Worry after the final whistle
GOAL said French network "RMC Sport" reported that Paris Saint-Germain ended the match worried about the physical condition of several players, especially Nuno Mendes and Magnes Akliouche.
