Celta Vigo came from behind to beat Celtic 2-1 away in a Europa League match, giving them their first victory of this season’s competition. The result also secured Celta Vigo’s first-ever victory in Scotland, while Callum Osmand went off in the second half with what appeared to be an injury.
How the match turned
Celtic took the lead after half-time through Mika Baur. Javi Rodriguez then scored twice for Celta Vigo, equalising after 68 minutes and adding the winner three minutes later.
Osmand withdrawn in second half
Osmand had to withdraw during the second half with what appeared to be an injury. The Celtic Bhoys said he was taken off in the 57th minute due to what appeared to be an injury setback. The Celtic Bhoys also said Osmand pulled up suddenly and requested a substitution, with James Forrest coming on in his place. The Celtic Bhoys added that Osmand hobbled down the sideline with the club medic after leaving the pitch.
Recent return to action
Osmand recently spent weeks sidelined with a muscular issue. The Celtic Bhoys described Osmand as a Wales youth international and said he had earned his start against Celta Vigo after scoring twice. The Celtic Bhoys also said Osmand scored twice before being replaced at half-time to make sure he did not overdo it in terms of muscular load upon his return.
What comes next
Celtic host Besiktas in two weeks' time. Flashscore said Celtic were in the bottom three of the league phase without a point to their name after the match. Celta Vigo will next take on Royale Union Saint-Gilloise at home, and Flashscore named Javi Rodriguez as its Man of the Match.
