Sampdoria have sacked Bernardo Corradi after a 2-1 home defeat to Arezzo at the Ferraris on Sunday. Marco Giampaolo is reported as the frontrunner to replace him.
Club statement
"U.C. Sampdoria announces that it has relieved Bernardo Corradi of his duties as first-team coach," read a club statement.
The club added: "The club wishes to thank Corradi for the dedication he showed during his time with the Blucerchiati."
The club also thanked assistant coach Massimo Mutarelli and technical collaborator Stefano Fiore, and said the new coach and staff "will be announced in the coming hours".
Defeat and league position
According to Corriere dello Sport, Corradi paid the price for Sampdoria's 2-1 home defeat to Arezzo on Sunday at the Ferraris.
The defeat to Arezzo was Sampdoria's fifth loss in their first seven league games.
Sampdoria are bottom of Serie B on four points, level with Catanzaro.
Sampdoria were heavily jeered by their own supporters.
Giampaolo the frontrunner
Giampaolo is the frontrunner to replace Corradi.
He is the clear favourite and would be returning for a third spell.
Giampaolo coached Sampdoria in Serie A from 2016 to 2019 and again from January to October 2022.
Most recent role
Giampaolo was most recently at Cremonese, where he replaced Davide Nicola in March.
Nicola took over at Venezia.
