BlockBeats and Hyperliquid Chinese community launch 7-day HYPE trading story campaign

BlockBeats said on Sept. 21 that it has teamed up with the Hyperliquid Chinese community to launch a HYPE community campaign centered on trading complaints and personal market stories. The event will run for seven days, from Sept. 21 to Sept. 28, and offers users a chance to earn HYPE rewards by posting original content about their trading experiences. The total prize pool is 28.88 HYPE, with the top individual reward set at 9.99 HYPE. According to the announcement, participants must quote the campaign promotional post, publish an original topic-based tweet, and follow the Hyperliquid Chinese account. The campaign does not limit story direction and lists sample topics including missed trades in Robinhood $PONS, liquidation during late-night moves in crude oil compared with BTC and ETH, whether users held $ZEC when it was at 40U around the same time last year, and whether traders still hold $ASTER after new highs in $HYPE and $LIT. The event is exclusively sponsored by ecosystem project Aqua, with support from TradingBeats, CoinAnk, HyperEVM Chinese community, and Hyperliquid Fengrenyuan.

CLARITY Act stalls as DOJ and FBI bring insider trading case tied to Hyperliquid and Robinhood

Two major U.S. crypto developments landed on Sept. 15, 2026, but they moved on separate tracks. In Washington, the Senate failed to advance H.R.3633, the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, after a 49-50 cloture vote, leaving a formal market structure bill stuck. The same day, the U.S. Department of Justice said federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York had unsealed criminal complaints and charged two former Robinhood engineers, Hefu Chai, 36, and Huaisong "Jerry" Xiang, 30. Prosecutors allege the two men used confidential token listing information obtained through their jobs to open perpetual futures positions on Hyperliquid before Robinhood publicly announced the listings, then closed those positions around the launch window for profit. The DOJ said each made more than $50,000 in illegal gains. Both defendants were charged with one count of commodities fraud under the Commodity Exchange Act and one count of wire fraud. The case stands out because the alleged trading took place on a decentralized derivatives venue. Public filings show investigators relied on Robinhood documents, internal communications, interviews, public Hyperliquid trading data, and records from crypto companies. The official record does not confirm a widely repeated claim that Robinhood’s internal surveillance system automatically flagged the activity. It does show how on-chain records, once linked to exchange accounts and company records, can become part of a federal fraud case.

Crypto sectors rise broadly as DeFi leads with a 6.80% 24-hour gain

Crypto markets moved higher on Sept. 18, with sector gains mostly ranging from 2% to 7%, according to SoSoValue. The data tied the move to fading market fear after U.S. rate hikes were finalized, oil prices retreated, and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission released an "innovation exemption" that supports on-chain trading of tokenized NMS stocks. DeFi posted the strongest sector performance, up 6.80% over 24 hours, led by Genius (GENIUS), Uniswap (UNI), and Hyperliquid (HYPE). Other sectors also advanced, including DePIN, RWA, Layer2, Meme, Layer1, PayFi, and CeFi. Sector indexes tracked the move as well, with MAG7.ssi, DEFI.ssi, and MEME.ssi all in positive territory. Historical sector gauges ssiDeFi, ssiRWA, and ssiLayer2 also recorded gains, showing broad strength across the market rather than a move limited to a single theme.

Crypto’s 2026 barbell market: on-chain experiments fade as firms crowd into the same trades

A TechFlowPost market analysis argues that many of crypto’s idealistic experiments have reached an endpoint in 2026, with closures, pivots, and sharp declines spreading across Bitcoin ecosystem projects, modular infrastructure, restaking, algorithmic stablecoins, NFTs, blockchain gaming, decentralized social networks, and other once-hyped sectors. The article says the market has not simply cooled. It has split. On one side sit speculation-heavy businesses such as meme coins, prediction markets, and decentralized perpetual futures exchanges. On the other are more stable, revenue-linked segments tied to the real economy, including stablecoins for payments, tokenized real-world assets, and vault products linked to RWA-backed lending. In between, many native on-chain categories have struggled to hold users, defend margins, or justify the risk taken by participants. The report points to a broad wave of shutdowns and strategic shifts in 2026, saying crypto companies with very different starting points are now building similar products because only a narrow set of sectors appears capable of resisting market weakness while still generating meaningful business income. Even so, the piece stops short of declaring every native crypto experiment dead, noting that a smaller group of projects still shows signs of product-market fit.

Funding Weekly: Nasdaq Backs Kraken Parent Payward With $100 Million as Mistral AI Raises €3 Billion

PANews’ latest funding roundup shows capital in crypto continued to cluster around stablecoin payments, compliance tooling, and the convergence of traditional finance with digital assets, while AI dealmaking stayed centered on infrastructure. In crypto, Nasdaq invested $100 million in Payward, the parent company of Kraken, valuing the company at $21 billion. Latitude raised a $35 million Series A for cross-border stablecoin payment infrastructure, and TRM Labs’ valuation doubled to $2 billion after another follow-on investment from existing backers. Circle also said it plans to acquire cross-border payments platform Tazapay in an all-stock deal valued at about $400 million, pending regulatory approval and expected to close in 2027. PANews said that from Sept. 7 to Sept. 13, the global blockchain sector recorded eight disclosed financing events with total funding of more than $158 million. Elsewhere, Antarctic Exchange, Agentum, RealGo, and TINA all announced fresh raises, while Sei Labs acquired Bilinear Labs. In AI, infrastructure remained the dominant theme. French startup Mistral AI closed a €3 billion Series D at a post-money valuation above €21 billion. Positron raised $875 million at a $5 billion valuation, Celero Communications secured $275 million at a valuation above $3 billion, and Cognition raised $2 billion, lifting its valuation to $48 billion. Additional rounds went to Clay, Savvy Wealth, Lightfield, and Herdr, while Meta acquired Sweden-based Stilla.ai.

LAPTOP swings dominate a packed crypto news cycle as whale trades, exchange listings and stablecoin updates stack up

Crypto markets saw an unusually dense flow of developments between Sept. 9 and Sept. 10, with LAPTOP drawing the most attention after its launch, airdrop claims, market-maker allocations, liquidity incentives and extreme price moves all unfolded in quick succession. Security concerns emerged at the same time, including phishing warnings tied to LAPTOP and a separate email phishing alert from hardware wallet maker Trezor. Beyond LAPTOP, on-chain activity showed large ZEC buying through three wallets, a profitable six-month run in VVV and LIT by whale address 0x7378, and fresh positioning by trader Based16z. Binance listed Niulai and expanded related services, while Binance Alpha added 4Stock and A Meme Coin. Institutional and infrastructure news also arrived in size. Aave launched an official MCP server for AI agents, Consensys spun out MetaMask into an independent entity, U.S. Bank tested cross-border payments using USBDC on Stellar, PayPal formally rolled out its PYUSDx platform, and Tether teamed up with Fasanara Capital on a $400 million private credit fund. Regulators and policymakers were active as well, with U.S. enforcement action against Xinbi Guarantee, fresh pressure in Washington around the CLARITY Act, and an EU move to extend local contact-point rules to crypto service providers.

Crypto roundup: Trump defends his stock trading, YZi Labs ranks No. 2 among active family offices in August

A wide set of crypto, regulatory and corporate developments landed over the past 24 hours, led by a new post from U.S. President Donald Trump, fresh family-office investment data, enforcement action in Australia, and a string of market and infrastructure updates across Bitcoin, DeFi and payments. Trump said on Truth Social that he had made "hundreds of billions of dollars" for the United States through stocks and other assets and added that he was doing it "for our country, not for myself." Reuters had previously reported that ethics filings showed Trump disclosed at least $220 million and as much as roughly $750 million in personal securities trades in the first three months of 2026. On the investment side, FINTRX data cited by Jiaoban Xinzhi Dian showed that Binance founder Changpeng Zhao’s YZi Labs ranked as the world’s second-most active family office in August, taking part in 10 funding rounds with a combined disclosed round size of $42.1 million. The same dataset showed family offices participated in 109 deals during the month, with disclosed financing totaling $16.9 billion. Elsewhere, Australia’s AUSTRAC said it had canceled, suspended or refused to renew registrations for 45 crypto and remittance businesses over the past year. Market commentary from Two Prime and Wintermute focused on Bitcoin’s rebound, ETF inflows and key price levels, while other developments included Liquid Network fund returns, Cronos’ rollback after the Tectonic exploit, Circle’s deal for Tazapay, and broader stablecoin and banking moves in Brazil, Switzerland and South Korea.

Arbitrum watchdog pushes permanent bans for three grant recipients over ARB misuse

Arbitrum’s Watchdog Committee is seeking permanent exclusion orders against three DeFi projects — Good Entry, Limitless, and APX Finance — after concluding they misused ARB grants from earlier DAO incentive programs. The proposal, posted by OpCo on Sept. 3 on behalf of the committee, would move enforcement beyond clawbacks and into long-term exclusion from future ArbitrumDAO programs. In some cases, that ban would continue to apply to founders even after a protocol has shut down. The proposal flags 142,839 ARB tied to Good Entry, 75,000 ARB tied to Limitless, and 239,714 ARB tied to APX Finance, for a combined 457,553 ARB, worth about $76,000 at an ARB price of $0.166. The committee classifies all three as high-severity cases. According to the filing, the Watchdog Program had received 90 reports as of Sept. 2, recovered about 532,000 ARB for the DAO, and paid roughly 268,000 ARB in reporter bounties. Each project has until Sept. 10 to respond on the governance forum. If the committee is not satisfied and funds are not returned within the same week, ArbitrumDAO will hold three separate Snapshot votes, one for each case. Those votes would decide whether the projects, including founders, current team members, and affiliated contributors, should be permanently barred from future DAO programs.
