Cardano hands core development to outside firms as ADA rises before Van Rossem fork

Input Output said Friday it will begin transferring control of key Cardano infrastructure to outside specialist firms starting in August, covering the Haskell node, the Plutus smart contract platform, the Daedalus wallet, and Hydra scaling technology. The transition is set to run through 2027 and will include at least three independent node implementations in Haskell, Rust, and Go under the oversight of community bodies Intersect and Pragma. Firms named in the handover include Se7en Labs, which has a Solana infrastructure background, and Teragone, the cryptographic research team leading Mithril development. Charles Hoskinson described the move as the final push of Cardano’s Voltaire era. Separately, the Van Rossem hard fork is scheduled to go live on mainnet on July 18 at 21:44 UTC after winning 77.63% approval on July 13. ADA was up about 2% on the day near $0.165, with a market capitalization of about $6 billion and roughly $193 million in futures open interest.
