Crypto markets brace for CLARITY vote, Circle Arc mainnet launch, and Fed decision this week
Crypto traders are heading into one of the busiest stretches on the September calendar, with several market-moving events packed into a 48-hour window. The biggest political test comes on Sept. 15, when the U.S. Senate is set to hold a procedural cloture vote on H.R. 3633, the CLARITY Act. The motion needs 60 votes to advance to formal debate, and Republicans cannot reach that threshold without support from Democrats and independents. Negotiations have produced a 635-page final text and 126 substantive changes, but disagreements remain over crypto-related ethics rules for government officials. The next day brings another focal point. Circle plans to open the public mainnet for Arc, its new layer-1 blockchain, on Sept. 16. The company said more than 100 institutions and ecosystem builders have already participated in the private mainnet, while BlackRock, DTCC, Galaxy, ICE, Mastercard, MoneyGram, Standard Chartered, Sumitomo Mitsui, Visa and others will serve as founding validators. Arc will use USDC as its native gas token and launch with applications including Aave, Uniswap and Aerodrome. The same day, the Federal Reserve will announce its latest rate decision, with CME FedWatch showing the market broadly pricing in a 25-basis-point hike. Cronos and VeChain also have scheduled catalysts this week, adding to an already crowded event slate.
